Dear Stephen,
I wanted to take a minute to say thank you to you and your team for the self-defense seminars you gave to my employees last week. I have had many of them call to thank me for providing them the opportunity to take the classes.
As a woman, I know that being able to defend yourself against predators could be the difference in life or death. So I knew that I wanted me and my 26 year old daughter to at least have that advantage.
Many of my employees are women. I can’t think of anything more useful or empowering that I could have done for them than teaching them to be in control of their safety. I have employees from 22 to 80 years old and of all shapes and sizes. Everything you taught us applies to all women.
You and your team, Bob, Kennon and David, are to be commended for your professionalism and expertise. We all commented on how four great guys could so realistically take on the roles of guys who were not so nice. It made the experience very real. I will be in touch with you very soon about classes for our customers. I can’t think of a better way to thank our customers for their business than to give them the self-defense training we have all had.
Again, thank you for empowering me, my daughter and 28 employees to protect ourselves. I hope none of us ever need to use what we learned, but I know, should the need arise, we will greatly decrease our chances of being a victim.

On a recent Saturday morning 20 girls from the Walton High School girl’s lacrosse program participated in a Self Defense course ran by Stephen Spivey of MaxDefense. Steve and his co-worker Bob, spent 2+ hours with the girls teaching them about yellow, orange, and red situations, how to recognize them and how to react to them. Each girl had the opportunity to face a dramatic representation of the situation with a defense coach behind helping her assess the situation while the others watched, and cheered her on at the end.
Steve and Bob were extremely professional and well prepared to educate and engage this group of adolescents. They shared their knowledge of self defense, street smarts and real life experiences to impart to the girls the importance of self confidence, being aware of their surroundings, how to make good choices and how not put themselves in harm’s way. I am confident that each girl walked away with valuable knowledge on how to protect themselves and stay out of harmful situations.
